New York’s MHRIC Chooses Board Portal & Meetings App

Integrated cloud-based suite of tools was most cost effective and flexible solution

January 22, 2011– Atlanta – eBOARDsolutions is pleased to announce that their web-based suite of tools, eBOARD, has been selected by the Mid-Hudson Regional Information Center (MHRIC) as the best tool for streamlining board of education operations to offer to their member districts and BOCES in the state of New York.

Responding to the challenges board members face in the digital age became a top priority of the Application Training division at the Mid-Hudson Regional Information Center (MHRIC).  After receiving numerous inquiries into possible solutions to streamline Board communications and increase community involvement, the MHRIC recently announced a partnership with eBOARDsolutions. Stacey Ross, Manager of Application Training at MHRIC, explains, “An integrated suite of cloud-based tools, eBOARD will better enable districts to support their Board of Education, reduce volumes of paper each month for the board packets, and offer districts a tool that can grow with them as the need arises.”

The use of eBOARD for managing meetings will also address a new state law in New York that requires public documents to be posted online prior to meetings.  According to an article in the Times Herald Record, this law will take effect February 2, 2012 and should apply to planning boards, industrial development agencies, school boards and legislative committees.  eBOARD will meet this requirement.

MHRIC also wanted a solution that could link district goals to action items and enhance the effectiveness of all district meetings. They found that eBOARDs’ modules allow districts the cost-effective option of choosing only the modules that meet their needs, while maintaining the flexibility to grow the system in the future.

According to MHRIC, some products they evaluated evaluated were cost-prohibitive or limited the use of the product to strictly the Board of Education meeting. In contrast, eBOARD was a very cost-effective way to manage multiple meetings with unlimited meeting types including public and internal meetings.

Adds Ross, “This was the most flexible solution by far. We were also drawn to the fact that eBOARD had an app for the iPad as many board members and school administrator are now starting to adopt.”

eBOARD was selected by the MHRIC after thorough research, including consultation and demonstrations with several vendors that responded to the MHRIC’s Request For Proposal (RFP) process, and most importantly, Board Clerks in several Hudson Valley school districts.

“As a Board Clerk, one of my favorite features of this program is the ability to index and search minutes and agendas for archived data,” notes Roxanne Babcock, clerk for Ulster BOCES. “This is normally a very time consuming task which would be reduced significantly by this program’s capability.”
